Underfoot Gallery
The Underfoot Gallery is in effect a Thames pavement painting project run by coordinator Colin Broadly from the Thames Art Society. Expressions of interest were sent out in 2012 to attract artists interested in being involved in painting on the many kilometres long path that meanders between the parks and the sea parallel to the main street of the town of Thames in the Coromandel. Artists were given 20m of a blank underfoot canvas to paint from submitted and approved designs. However as Jan's work evolved along the path, they requested more. She completed 100m of morphing artwork........shape-shifters in silhouette.....various animals and birds swarming ahead of each footfall, changing form to suddenly pour down a virtual hole, again and again. You literally ' walked the story '. Public response was instantly enthusiastic. Some of it is faded now but its still worth a look.
