Public Art The black and white mural depicting staff working in the Otago Hospital Radiology Dept - commissioned in the 1970's and that hung in their waiting room for many years - was an early example of Jan's mural work. Only this photo of it remains. She resumed taking art to the public in her 40's, during the Dragon Studios period, working initially with terracotta tiles. In recent years, the return to paintbrushes and albeit new challenges has seen a greater freedom of style and more direct engagement with the public emerge.
